On Friday, 1 March, the Marshal team attended a conference co-hosted by Mission to Seafarers and WISTA UAE at DP World’s Pavilion, Expo Centre. The event focused on enhancing seafarer welfare and promoting female participation in shipping. Key discussions explored strategies for attracting and retaining the next generation of female seafarers, addressing both challenges and opportunities. This initiative is pivotal for shaping a more inclusive and resilient maritime industry.
Sharjah Maritime Academy
Our trip to the Sharjah Maritime Academy in May 2024 was truly motivating as we had the chance to talk about partnerships and check out their state-of-the-art campus facilities and training equipments, simulators and workshops. As one of the first crew management companies in Dubai and India to collaborate with SMA, we are inspired by the Academy’s commitment to innovation and look forward to building on our strengths together.
ISWAN Conference – Philippines
On 4th July we attended the first ISWAN Conference held in Philippines. At this full-day event, ISWAN launched their Family Outreach Program and shared the findings of their survey about the impact on seafarer welfare. Speakers from MARINA and DWM has been present and interesting panel discussions have happened there (pictures attached)
ISWAN’s Family Outreach Program (FOP) Workshop – India
On Sep 23rd our Marshal Ship Management team took part in a workshop by ISWAN’s new initiative – the Family Outreach Program (FOP) which is a part of their Seafarers’ Education and Awareness Session (SEAS). This highly engaging 3-hour workshop delved into the importance of family support in improving seafarer wellbeing. The session highlighted how strong family bonds contribute to the emotional health and overall wellbeing of all crew members, enhancing productivity and creating safer onboard environments. The discussion also addressed the difficulties that families of sailors encounter to ensure their perspectives are acknowledged as well.
Tristar
On November 7, we participated in the 6th ‘Safety at Sea’ Conference at Taj Exotica, The Palm, Dubai. The event centered on fostering a robust safety culture onboard vessels, spotlighting the Golden Safety Rules aimed at preventing casualties. Bringing together industry leaders, mariners, crewing agents and regulators, it provided a collaborative platform to drive safety improvements across the maritime sector. The discussions underscored the critical link between safety practices and overall business performance in maritime operations.
Crew Connect Global
The Crew Connect Global, the industry-leading marine crewing conference, took place on 12 – 14 November 2024 at Shangri-La The Fort, Manila. It was a 3-day event packed with interesting information, exciting discussions and very good networking opportunities.
Some of the highlights included topics about involving and leading Generation Z, impact of digital technology on seafarers and crewing, new fuel and propulsion technologies, and new training methodologies for seafarers.
Championing Seafarers’ Wellbeing – ISWAN Mumbai
Marshal Ship Management also attended a seminar hosted by ISWAN India on 28th November 2024, at Mumbai. This event brought together industry leaders, maritime professionals and other stakeholders and provided a platform where crucial aspects of seafarer wellbeing were highlighted and discussed, including self care techniques, financial discipline, effective communication and also impact of decarbonization on seafarer welfare.
BIMCO India Forum 2024
We also felt privileged to be able to attend the BIMCO India Forum, held in Mumbai on 2nd December 2024. The event was co-organized by BIMCO and Indian National Shipowners’ Association. BIMCO’s initiatives and their impact on the maritime industry, ship recycling and seafarer safety and wellbeing were amongst the topics that were taken up in engaging panel discussions.
